Zinedine Zidane does not like James Rodriguez according to Carlos Valderrama
Former Colombia goalkeeper Carlos Valderrama has stated that the Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane does not like James Rodriguez.
He said that he does not understand why the French manager does not select Rodriguez despite the fact that the player is fit and in form.
He stated that even if Real Madrid were struggling for goals, Zinedine Zidane would not play him on the side. For him, there is only one explanation possible for this situation. Zidane does not like him playing with Real Madrid. Valderrama believes that even if James Rodriguez scores 3 or 4 goals, Zinedine Zidane will still not play him in the team and will allow him to sit on the bench.
Carlos Valderrama argued that James Rodriguez is a good player and it is Zidane that is wasting his talent. He said that Rodriguez did not have any problems playing under Carlos Ancelotti or Rafael Benitez and that he was scoring goals at that time. But it has been a different story under Zinedine Zidane with the Colombian international struggling to get enough playing time in the side.
However, James Rodriguez has come under pressure in recent time with his poor lifestyle off the pitch. He has often been accused of not giving his best when playing and lacks determination on the pitch.
There are media reports that Real Madrid has told Rodriguez that he is free to leave the club in the summer. He moved to Madrid in 2014 for a reported fee of €80m but has failed to fulfill his potential for the club. It is believed that Manchester United might be interested in signing the player as they seek to build a team that will allow them to challenge for the Premier League title.
